Agnes Christine Schwab

Agnes (Aggie) Christine Schwab, age 92, of Lakeside, Arizona, and formerly of Guthrie Center, Iowa, passed away at Solterra Senior Living on August 2, 2015, with her loving family by her side. Aggie was born on December 14, 1922, on the family farm in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Conrad and Kristine (Lauridsen) Madsen. She attended country school in Guthrie County and graduated from Guthrie Center High School in 1940. On January 4, 1942, she married Stewart (Stu) Schwab at the family farm house West of Guthrie Center. Shortly after they were married, Stu was called to serve his country during WWII. Aggie worked for Randolph Creamery and Production Credit Association, both in Guthrie Center. Later on she worked as Guthrie Center School Board secretary and retired after 14 years, in 1981. Aggie was a 50 year member of the Order Of The Eastern Star Gleaners Chapter #109, having served as Worthy Matron, and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center. She will be most remembered for her love for her family and friends, her joy of cooking, and her sense of humor. She is survived by daughters, Connie (Jerry) Bergstrand of Show Low, AZ and Janel (Ken) Miller of Prescott Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Beth (Charlie) Marsh, Mark (Julie) Glade, Anneka Bergstrand and Lauren Bergstrand; great-grandchildren , Devin, Hunter, and Tanner Marsh, Samantha Haley, and Katie Glade ; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Conrad and Kristine; brothers Mads, Carl, and Elvin. Memorial services will be held at Solterra Senior Living in Lakeside, Arizona, on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Order Of The Eastern Star Gleaners Chaperter #109 in Guthrie Center, Iowa, or to the United Methodist Church in Guthrie Center, Iowa.
