Jean Ellen Butler died Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015, at her home in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona from causes incident to her age. She was 90 years old. Jean was born, as a twin daughter, on July 11, 1924, in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California to her parents, the late Raymond Daniel, Sr., and Ruby Ellen (Densel) McCurdy. At the age of 2, she moved with her family to Fontana, California where she went to school. Following high school, Jean married and began her family, having 3 children. She later gave birth to her fourth child and moved to Show Low, Arizona. Jean worked for the public schools as a cafeteria worker. She then worked with the Meals on Wheels program until her retirement in 1993. Following her retirement, she took art and quilting classes at Northland Pioneer College. She also sang with the White Mountain Chorale and made many friends in the process. She was blessed with a "green thumb" and enjoyed gardening. Jean is mother to her 4 children: Richard Schritchfield, Steven Raymond Schritchfield, Donna Jean Keith and Gerald Butler. She was a sister to her 2 brothers: Kenneth McCurdy, Raymond Daniel McCurdy, Jr., and her twin sister, Josephine Canna. She was also a grandmother to 8 and great-grandmother to many. Her funeral service will begin 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th Street in Show Low, Arizona where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery.
