Velma Stratton, 83, of Snowflake passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015. She was born to the late Yates and Florence Heywood, September 29, 1931 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Velma graduated from Snowflake High School where she met her husband, Glen Stratton. They were married on June 25, 1952 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Primary, Scouting program, Relief Society, and many others. Velma loved to read, sing, tease and go out to eat. But the love of her life was her family. She was known for her homemade bread, chili beans and sense of humor. Velma was a great cook, a wonderful homemaker and a world-class wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son Jerry Stratton. She is survived by 10 children, Carolyn Penrod (Gordon), Kent Stratton (Pam), Norma Schneider (Jeff), Mike Stratton, Julie McCray (Ray), Phil Stratton (Becky), Margie Wirth(Mark), Terry Stratton (Noelle), Janet Chavez (Mike) and Paul Stratton (Kathleen); 34 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Main Street Chapel in Snowflake on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 10:00 am with a visitation one hour prior. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday evening at Owens Livingston Mortuary, 84 E. 19 S, in Snowflake, Arizona from 6:00-8:00 pm. Arrangements were handled through Owens Livingston Mortuary of Snowflake, Arizona.
