Kenneth Arnold Lindsey died suddenly, Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2015 in Show Low, Arizona. He was 94 years old. Kenneth was born on November 7, 1920 in Kelsey, Upshur County, Texas to his parents, the late Pleasant James and Julia Mildred (Sanders) Lindsey. In 1927, at the age of 7, Kenneth moved to Arizona with his family. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving from 1944 to 1946. During his military service, Kenneth was a diesel mechanic and worked on the landing crafts that took our troops into Iwo Jima, Japan. Following his honorable discharge from the navy, Kenneth began a decades-long career in cotton farming and cattle ranching in the little community of Marana, just outside of Tucson, Arizona. When he retired, he made his home in Apache Junction during the winter months and Show Low during the summer months. In the 1990s, Kenneth moved fulltime to Show Low and was an active member of the Show Low Elks Lodge. In his spare time, Kenneth could be found looking for bargains at various flea markets and was affectionately known as a "Swap Meet Aficionado" and, has acquired many-a-trailor, full of deals. He is survived by his 5 children: Betty Anne Ellsworth of Show Low, Arizona, Vance Lindsey of Taylor, Arizona, Richard Lindsey of Show Low, Arizona, Tracy Lindsey of San Francisco, California, Trisha Ivy of Apache Junction, Arizona; 22 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and by his sister, Frances Lindblom of Mesa, Arizona. Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his siblings: LeRoy Lindsey, Clarence Lindsey, Alva Knight, James Lindsey, Ernestine Davis, Myrl Lindsey, Leta Hardy, Janelle Lindsey and by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ellsworth. The funeral service will begin 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th Street in Show Low, Arizona, where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior.
