Robert Cole McIntyre, of Vernon, Apache County, Arizona passed away on May 7, 2015 in Vernon. He was 91. Robert was born to his parents the late Charles Daub and Lille (Cole) McIntyre in Mineral Springs, Richmond County, North Carolina on June 7, 1923. Robert was a World War II Veteran having served in the Army Air Corps, with the 718th Bombardment Squadron (H), serving in the PO Valley, Air Combat Balkans, Air Offensive Europe, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Normandy, Northern France, Southern France, North Apennines, Rhineland, and Central Europe Battles and Campaigns. He was honorably discharged on 7 September 1945 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 1948 Robert met the love of his life, Jane Kelsy, and together they had 3 beautiful children, Phil, Julie and Dan. Robert and Jane owned and operated the Creek Ridge Cabins, at the time between Pinetop and Lakeside, for nearly 20 years before pursuing other adventures. He was a Charter Member of the White Mountain Sheriff's Posse and served on the Board of Directors for Navapache Electric for many years. Robert was an amazing carpenter having constructed homes all over the White Mountains including homes in the White Mountain Country Club, Pinetop Country Club, Show Low Country Club and everywhere in between. He even built many of the homes in the Hawley Lake area during the winter time where they would stay in tents for many months at a time. An avid outdoorsman he loved to hunt and fish. Being in nature was always something Robert looked forward to doing and especially being able to spend his time with his beautiful family in the mountains he called home was truly one of his greatest joys. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend he will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Jane McIntyre; children, Phil (Dr. Marilyn Hart) McIntyre, Julie Shaw and Dan (Dr. Nancy Goodman) McIntyre; 6 grandchildren: Kelsey, Lucas (Brooke), Molly (Aaron), Hannah (Chris), Amye and Kayla and 2 great-grandchildren: Carlie and Reece.
