Molly Amos Holladay

Molly Holladay died Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky following complications of a stroke. She was 81 years old. Molly was born on Saturday, April 28, 1934, in Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona to her parents, the late Byde and Maud Elizabeth (Gibbons) Amos. Being 1/8th native American, Molly was proud of her ancestral heritage and was a registered member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe. Throughout her life, Molly was a member of the Show Low 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her tenure of employment, Molly worked for the Show Low School District for many years. She started out as a janitor at the high school then, with her knack for numbers, she moved over to the cafeteria department and worked as the bookkeeper. While there, she acquired the name of "Molly the Lunch Lady" by her students and her large community of friends. When she retired, 25 plus years later, she was Show Low School District's Head Food Service Manager. Molly married Narvel Dean Holladay on November 19, 1952 in Gallup, New Mexico. After nearly 49 years of marriage, Narvel died on July 17, 2001. Following his death, their marriage was solemnized in the Snowflake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Molly is survived by her 4 children: Dean Michael (Donna) Holladay of Show Low, Arizona, Christopher Lance (Terri) Holladay of Show Low, Arizona, Bridget Holladay Hill (Benson) of Lexington, Kentucky, Carla Jo Holladay Bryant (Ray) of Meridian, Mississippi; 1 brother, Larry Amos (Marlene) of Show Low, Arizona; 26 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, Molly was preceded in death by her 4 sisters: Myrna Hansen, Roxy Ballard, Ruby Leman, Greta Shepardson and by a brother brother, Kenneth Gardner. The visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 15, 2015 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th Street in Show Low, Arizona, where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest alongside her forever sweetheart, Narvel.
