Dorothy Louise Tharp

Dorothy Louise Tharp, age 92, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Solterra Senior Living Center in Lakeside, Arizona. She was born February 17, 1923 in Albion, Michigan to Donald Edwin Conkey and Flora Marie Pratt Conkey Baird. She moved to Show Low, Arizona from Bristol, Indiana in 2002 to be closer to her family. She served in the United States Women's Army Air Corps and was stationed at Hickam Field after Pearl Harbor was attacked in Hawaii during World War II. It was at Hickam Field where she met her husband, Carl Henry Fry. They married in 1945 and had one child. Dorothy retired from being a beautician for more than 60 years. She was a giving person, active in the White Mountain United Methodist Church, was an avid reader, and loved to play a friendly game of "books and runs." She was very proud of her daughter and grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Penny Weiermann of Show Low, Arizona, grandchildren; Ashley (Joshua) Siefert-Kusnitz of Winter Garden, Florida and Benjamin Siefert of Heber City, Utah and one of her sisters Clarice (Ernest) Nelson of Phoenix, Arizona. Along with her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Carl Fry in 1967 and Arthur J. Tharp in 1996; 4 sisters: Agnes (Thomas) Montgomery, Virginia (Frederick) Spees, Donna (Alonzo) Stillson and Jean (Donald) Ashcraft. A memorial service was held on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the White Mountain United Methodist Church, 261 N. 5th St. in Show Low, Arizona. Dorothy was buried at the Olive Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana. Arrangements were handled thru Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel in Show Low, Arizona.
