John Eric Sweeney

John Eric Sweeney, age 51, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. John was born on February 15, 1964 in Morenci, Greenlee County, Arizona, the son of Jack and Molly Sweeney. He grew up in Buckeye, Arizona and graduated from Buckeye High School in 1982 where he excelled in football, wrestling and the arts. John loved to socialize and tell "long stories long." We will truly miss his voice, his wisdom and his stories. After graduating from high school, John joined the United States Army. While he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, he met the love of his life, Robin. John and Robin were married 30 years and had 3 children, Mark, Alex and Sydni. John was a dedicated finance manager for many years at local car dealerships as well as car dealerships in Cottonwood, Arizona and Sierra Vista, Arizona. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley. John was preceded in death by his father, Jack Sweeney. He is survived by his wife, Robin Sweeney of Lakeside, Arizona; children, Mark Sweeney of Lakeside, Alex Sweeney of Pinetop, Arizona and Sydni Sweeney of Lakeside; his mom, Molly Sweeney of Buckeye; sisters, Ruth (Matt) Donovan of Goodyear, Arizona, Sophia (Jim) Harder of Goodyear; nephews, nieces and many extended family members. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the St. Mary's of The Angels Catholic Church, 1915 S. Penrod Lane, Pinetop, Arizona with the inurnment to follow in the Angels Rest Columbarium also at the church. In lieu of flowers an account has been setup at paypal.com under sweeneys@cableone.net
