Dorothy Grace Beeson

December 30, 1919 — February 17, 2015

Dorothy Grace (Young) Beeson was born in Tucson, Arizona December 30, 1919 to John and Dora Young. She attended Second Avenue School and graduated from Yuma High School, Class of 1937. Shortly after her graduation from high school, Dorothy met and married the love of her life, J.R. Beeson. Dorothy and J.R. were married 66 years and had three daughters, Dorothy Gail, Karen Lynn and Roberta Jonette (Joni). Dorothy was able to celebrate each of her daughter's 50th wedding anniversaries. Dorothy was a lifeguard and taught swimming lessons at Abe Marcus Pool. She then worked for the Yuma County Housing Authority before joining the staff at Kofa High School where she served as the Principal's Secretary and Registrar for more than 20 years. Dorothy and J.R. sold their Yuma home upon retirement in 1979 and moved to Lakeside, Arizona where they lived out their lives. Dorothy was a member of the Emblem Club, the Red Hats, The International Association of Rebekah Assemblies and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Women's Auxiliary. She was also active in the Democratic Party and served on the Election Boards. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, J.R. Beeson, siblings, William (Bill) Young, Kathryn Andrews, and Jeanette Bates, Grandson, Roland Paul Beeler Jr., and Great Grandsons, Wyatt Hicks and Garret Gehlen. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Gail (Paul) Beeler, Karen (Richard)Beeler, Joni(Don)Fisher, and 12 Grandchildren: Bobby (Jennifer)Beeler, Jacque(Curtis) Cloud, Mark(Kim) Beeler, Albert(Cheto)Beeler, Alma(James)Beeler, Denise(Calvin) Keith, Rick(Margaret)Beeler, Dana (Dave) Green, Donna(Ted)Johnson, Mike(Betsi) Fisher, Tori(Chris)Bourguignon, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great- Great Grandchildren all of whom she loved and adored. Graveside services will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeside, Arizona, Friday, February 27th at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held in Yuma, Arizona at the home of Ted and Donna Johnson on Saturday, March 7th at 4:00 PM. All are welcome.
