Marie White Quay, of Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona passed away surrounded by her loving family on February 9, 2015 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona. She was 80. The great-granddaughter of Chief Alchesay A1, she was born to her parents the late, Marion and Annie (Pope) White on June 1, 1934 in North Fork, Navajo County, Arizona. A devout Christian, Marie loved to travel all over the Southwest attending revivals and church services of all kinds. She was well known throughout the Apache, Navajo, San Carlos and as far away as the Canoncito (New Mexico) Reservations for her strong faith and devotion to her Lord and Savior. She loved to take her family with her on her many church travels and because of her, they are all very religious. Her many hobbies included watching her grandchildren play softball, cooking, traveling and spending as much time as she could with her family. She was very proud to have worked for the Home Extension, helping the tribe, reservation wide, baking, canning and making the old "Apache Food." Her last employed was for FATCO as a Stick person. She is survived by her loving husband, Slim Quay of Whiteriver, Arizona; daughters, Marjorie Romero (Robert) of North Fork, Arizona, Valerie Burnette (Raymond) of Whiteriver, Arizona, Genevive Lupe of Whiteriver, Arizona and Vonda Bonito (Marcus, Sr.) of North Fork, Arizona; son, Mark Quay (Molly Zahgotah) of Whiteriver, Arizona; granddaughter, Thomascita Cosen of Whiteriver, Arizona; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nephew, Rupert White of Whiteriver, Arizona and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by daughters, Jodi and Andrena Quay; son, Jerome Kasey, Jr.; grandsons, Myron Bonito and Elijo Hill; great-grandson, Santiago Colelay and brothers, Albert and Robert White. A one night wake will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 14, 2015 at her residence, 614 North 1st Avenue, Whiteriver. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Canyon Day Miracle Church in Canyon Day followed by the interment in the Baha Springs Cemetery, North Fork, Arizona.
