Barbara Ann Russell, age 72, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at her home in Show Low, Arizona. She was born May 8, 1942 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Henry (Hank) Christian Mayer and Elizabeth Viola Mayer. She was an incredibly loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother (known as Gi-Gi to her great grandson Conor). Her family and spending time with them was the most important part of her life. Barbara was a Godly woman and was active in her church, Calvary Baptist, where she was involved in prayer group, prayer ministry, producing the newsletter (and making sure everyone received one in the mail!), and many other projects that benefited her community. She was also an active member of the Lions Club, where she was proud to be a part of organizing the yearly Christmas Village and conventions. Another project dear to her heart was spending the summers working at Camp Tatiyee; a project of the Lions. She delighted in seeing the children that would visit her cantina and gift shop while attending camp. The children gave her joy and she loved to interact with them.Barbara was always ready to embrace new technology and was a computer "guru". Barbara is survived by her husband of 43 years Dale, her children: Doug (Chris) Russell and Andrea Wondra, 3 grandchildren: Stephanie (Doug) Mathis, Tara Russell and Eric Russell, great grandchild: Conor and a new grandchild expected in August, and a brother: James Mayer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Calvary Baptist Church, 241 E. McNeil in Show Low, Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made either to Pinetop Lions Club or to the Gideons, 561 So. 2nd St., Show Low, Arizona 85901.
