Wesley Tarver Singleton, Jr

October 22, 1937 — February 2, 2015

Wesley Tarver Singleton Jr. was born October 22, 1937 in Winslow AZ to Wesley Tarver Singleton Sr. and Maude Naomi Freeman Singleton. He passed away on February 2, 2015. He was known to many as "Sonny". He was raised in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School. He later moved to PHX, AZ where he met and married Nadine Cooper Singleton. While in Phoenix he attended ASU and graduated with honors. Wes worked for Santa Fe Railroad and later as a Highway Patrolman for 13 ½ years. Wes and Nadine had 4 children Marion Wesley Singleton (Wendy), Tamera Christen Harris (Dennis), Byron LaDreau Singleton (Stephanie) and Douglas Craig Singleton (Diana). They also opened their home to children from the LDS Indian placement program, Lucille Yazzie, Annie Tom, Vickie Price and Karen Tom. Wesley & Nadine retired to Vernon, AZ where Wes drove a bus for Vernon Elementary and served on the Vernon School board. In Vernon Wes & Nadine were blessed to be able to raise more children, Jamie Munsell Bell (Jason),Tianna Jone' Hood, Mary Alice Swift, Glenzo Joseph Swift, Leander Swift, Jace Tarver Hood Singleton and Jayden Tremaine Hood. They adopted TaLena Nadine Singleton. Wes is survived by his Wife and Children along with 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Wes is preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Inez Singleton Marple and by his granddaughter TaLeah Christine Harris. Funeral Services will be held at the Vernon Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints on Saturday, February 7, 2014 at 10:00 am with a visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will immediately follow at the Vernon Cemetery.
