Ruth Lorainne Thomas-Wegis, 86 passed suddenly on December 17th in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. She was born on October 22, 1928 in Totowa Borough, Passaic County, New Jersey, to Frederick Thomas and Ethel Laughton Thomas. She was the youngest of three sisters who were very close and loving. Ruth married Gerard Wegis in 1950, and they raised three children; Barbara Wegis-Courtright, Thomas Wegis and Howard Wegis in Paramus, New Jersey. Ruth worked as a secretary, and then when the children were grown she became a medical claims processor. Ruth and Jerry retired in Arizona in 1989 and spent many happy years in Pine. They moved to Las Vegas briefly, and then Ruth returned to Arizona after her husband's death and settled at the Senior Apartments at Mountain Village Apartments. She loved her new home, and felt secure and cared for there. A special thanks to apartment manager Patrick Landers who was always a friend and support for her. She is survived by her three children, and their spouses, Barbara Wegis Courtright and James Courtright of Show Low, Thomas and Nancy Wegis of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Howard and Virginia Wegis of Lehigh Acres, Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren Raymond Courtright and his two children, Chase and Molly Courtright , and Katherine Courtright DeLeon and husband Scott DeLeon as well as their two children Alyssa DeLeon and Lilliana DeLeon. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Senior Center on E.McNeil at 1:00 P.M.
