Skilled log cutter, accomplished carpenter, scrupulously honest and hardworking, beloved father, grandfather and great -grandfather, Jay Webb, departed this earth on December 18, 2014 to join his eternal companion, Marion, who preceded him in death on January 13, 2012. He was born on October 5, 1924 in Pinedale, AZ to Della Ray Webb and Jonathan Henry Webb, eighth of ten children. His early childhood was spent In the Lakeside area where he met and married Marion Brenay, the love of his life, on May 5, 1941. He was the proud father of 6 children - one of whom, Jamar, lived for only a few hours. Their early married life was spent in Vernon. Jay left there in 1943 to serve in the Army during WWII. Heroic actions in Germany earned "Sargent Webb" a bronze star. Arriving home he resumed working in the logging business with his father and brothers. Jay and Marion moved to Lakeside with their three small children in the early 1950s where they remained for over 50 years. Jay was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his entire life, exemplifying Christ's teaching by caring for others and serving in many church callings. He and Marion served as stake missionaries after they moved to Lakeside and as temple missionaries in the Mesa Temple in the 1990's. Jay will be remembered as a kind, quiet, gentle person with exceptional physical strength and endurance, and a keen, dry sense of humor. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his children, Sheldon (Inez) Webb of Casa Grande/ Lakeside, Diane (Scott) Hall of Kentucky, Drinette (Don) Ellison of San Tan Valley/Lakeside who are currently serving an LDS mission in Texas, Daphne (Curtis) Scott of Saratoga Springs, UT, DeEdra (Richard) Breckenridge of Charlotte, NC, 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held at the Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 Church Lane, Lakeside December 23, 2014 at 11:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, Arizona.
