Sweet Melissa Pomeroy (Lissy) was unexpectedly called to Heaven at sunset on October 15, 2014 to live among the angels. Melissa was born April 14, 1966 in Tucson, Arizona where she resided for 22 years. Melissa graduated in 1988 from the University of Arizona with a degree in Education. During her childhood, Melissa spent summer and winter vacations in Show Low, Arizona, where she met her true love, Michael Pomeroy. Melissa resided in Show Low with her family since 1989. Melissa was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Karen Pomeroy. Melissa is survived by her husband of 25 years Michael Pomeroy, her daughter Haley and son Kyle. She is also survived by her parents Vern and Shirley Dickerson; siblings Randye (Dwight) Ferrick, Mark Dickerson, Mack (Linda) Dickerson and twin Michelle Keith; Father-in-law, Charles "Mick" Pomeroy; sister-in-law Laurie (Shannon) Waite; stepson Brandon (Dixie) Fails; and grandchildren, Conner, Alyssa and Easton and countless nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Lissy was an incredible mother to Haley and Kyle. She was so proud of Haley and her numerous academic and athletic accomplishments and was looking forward to being a Grandmother soon. She was Haley's number one fan and friend. God gifted Melissa and Mike with a special needs child, Kyle, whose life and care Melissa was devoted to. She was his champion and advocate. "Mrs. Pomeroy" worked with the Show Low School District for over 25 years teaching elementary and special needs children. She took a personal interest in every student and maintained countless relationships with students into adulthood. Whether it was 2nd, 3rd, 5th grade, P.E. or special needs kids "Mrs. Pomeroy" invested her heart and soul into mentoring and guiding her students. Lissy had a generous, caring heart and was kind to all. She was a healer, healing both people and animals. She never met a stranger or made an enemy. She stood up for everything she believed in and always got in the last word. She loved the art of conversation and would strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She had a great sense of humor and her laugh was contagious. In addition to spending time with her family, Lissy loved her garden, fishing, hunting, her evening toddy and sitting under the apple tree with her parents. Melisa had many challenges in life that to many others would by overwhelming but she never allowed them to affect her positive outlook and determination for her family's happiness. A heartfelt thank you to the Show Low community, including the Firefighters and especially Kyle's nurse, Karen, and all the other nurses in Show Low who stepped up to take care of Kyle during this very difficult time.
