Delbert Zahgotah SR.

Delbert Zahgotah SR., of Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona passed away on September 30, 2014 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona. He was 74. Delbert was born to his parents the late, Irvin and Bessie (Tonay) Zahgotah in Whiteriver, Arizona on April 16, 1940. Delbert was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. A hardworking man, Delbert worked for the Eagar Sawmill in the lumber yard in Eagar, Arizona, at the Whiteriver Apache Service Station in Whiteriver, at the Hawley Lake boat dock as a salesperson and most recently as a custodian for the Whiteriver Unified School District. An excellent harmonica player, Delbert spent countless hours playing music for his family and friends at many different family get-togethers. A loving father, husband and grandfather he loved wood making and made many treasured gifts for his family. The last few years of Delbert's life he spent at home enjoying the wonderful memories made with those he loved the most. He is survived by his children: Delta (JR) Nashio, Delbert (Beth) Zahgotah JR., Bertdell (Sandra) Zahgotah SR., Delberta Bennett all of Whiteriver and Delrell (Margaret) Dean of East Fork; companion, Norma P. of Whiteriver and children, Irvin Earl (Amanda) Zahgotah and Bert Zahgotah of Whiteriver; grandchildren, JT N., Jr W. N., Rrasta N., Kaywahn N., Delberson Z., Jodie Z., Frankie Z., Kimberly Z., Cameron Z., Bertini Z., Mary D., Valerie H., Jewel B., Bronson B., Blake B., Elliott B., Estaveeda B., Tatum W., Dustin D., Justin D., Denise Z., Irving Z. and Naya Z.; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol (Manuel) Quesada, Lavenia (Franklin) Caddo, Noreen (Arnold) Wool, Irene (Robert III) Hinton, Lucinda Bennett, Florinda Gushoney, Sally Gregg, Georgianna Siow, Angelita Bennett and Vera (Vernon) Susan all of Whiteriver. He was preceded in death by a son, Delvert Zahgotah; his parents, Ivin and Bessie and brothers, Arson Zahgotah, Earl Zahgotah and Lester Zahgotah. A two night wake will begin 1:00PM Thursday, October 9, 2014 at his daughter's house, 2409 N. Eagle Court, Knott's Landing with a funeral service on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the North Fork Miracle Church at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the Whiteriver Cemetery.
