Betty Jean Czarnecki

February 25, 1922 — September 8, 2014

Betty Jean Czarnecki, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2014 in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona. Known as Jean by her friends and loved ones, she was born in Barton, Allegany County, Maryland on February 25, 1922 to her parents, the late Dennis and Isabell (Davis) Lashbaugh. Jean grew up in Barton with her 3 sisters and her brother. Shortly after graduating from high school Jean became a United States Marine and met her husband George, who was also a proud Marine, while serving in San Diego. When George was discharged from the service, the two moved to Calumet City, Illinois and raised a beautiful family. Jean was a devoted wife and a patient and loving mother. She seemed to be happiest when she was caring for others, making tomato soup or helping George with one of his many projects. Jean and George then retired to Green Valley, Arizona, where they shared many wonderful years together. The couple wanted to be as near as possible to their daughter and grandchildren, so they moved a final time to Show Low, Arizona, where Jean called home for over 25 years. In 2011, Jean moved to Solterra Senior Living in Lakeside, Arizona, where the caring and compassionate staff loved to see "Teenie Jeanie" smile. Jean had the sweetest heart and brought light and laughter wherever she was. Her kindness and warmth will always be remembered. Jean is survived by her daughter, Connie (Jay) Pringle of Show Low, Arizona; her son, Dennis (Patti) Czarnecki of Homer-Glen, Illinois and her 3 grandchildren, Molly, Ben and Sara. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and sweetheart of 58 years, George, who passed away in 2004 as well as her son, Michael, who passed away in 2011. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Solterra Senior Living, www.solterrawhitemountains.com, 5408 HWY 260, Lakeside, Arizona 85929.
