Omer D. Robbins, of Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona peacefully passed away on August 15, 2014 in Show Low. He was 93. Omer was born to his parents the late, Eddie and Pearlie (Franklin) Robbins on September 2, 1920 in Mt. Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois. Omer enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1942 and was a part of the 97th AAA GUN BN., stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and was honorably discharged in November of 1945. Following his discharge he returned home and attended Olivet Nazarene College where he met Augusta Grace Ling and they were married July 31, 1948. It was there they had their son, Omer David. They then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he attended Nazarene Theologian Seminary and went to work for Bendix Corp. There they had their daughter, Vonda Sue. Omer became a licensed HAM Radio Operator in 1953; a hobby he enjoyed the remainder of his life. In 1965 they moved to Phoenix, Arizona due to his children's health issues. He loved talking to people all over the world and always signed off with 73's to his many family members and friends. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Show Low. Omer was preceded in death his loving wife of 62 years, Grace Robbins as well as his parents, a brother and a sister. He is survived by his son, Omer David and a daughter, Vonda Sue Tatum; 4 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 6:00PM Thursday August 21, 2014 at the New Life Community Church of the Nazarene, 601 S. Clark Rd., Show Low, Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 140800, Nashville, Tennessee 37214-0800, in Omer's name.
