Debra Lyann Childs

Debra Lyann Childs was born on March 16, 1983. She went home to be with our Heavenly Father on August 05, 2014. Debra was a caring, generous, loving, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed being around her family and made sure she was present at all family occasions. She adored her parents and made sure they were well cared for. Debra was an honor student throughout her academic life. She excelled at her subjects in high school and was honored by the White Mountain Apache Tribe for her academic achievements. Her educational drive and commitment led also to her travelling to Washington D.C. to participate in the Close-Up Foundation. After she graduated with Honors at Cibecue High School, she attended Arizona State University West after successfully completing the Arizona State University East Summer Bridge Program. She also attended Chandler Community College. Debra loved to cook and wanted to do more with her life so she enrolled in the Arizona Culinary Institute (ACI) in Scottsdale, Az. Debra's passion for cooking blossomed. She studied with ambition and became student of the month on several occasions. Debra was very happy with her decision to attend ACI and wanted to work with those who would help her achieve perfection at what she did. After completing her course of study at ACI, she moved back to Cibecue where she decided to complete her internship at the Sunrise Park Resort Summit Restaurant in hopes of being able to work with renowned Apache chef Nephi Craig. Debra's wish was granted and she started her internship. She loved her homeland and loved cooking for a diverse group of people. She was eager to learn more and couldn't wait for her graduation in December 2014. Debra lived an extraordinary life and will be missed by all. Debra's survivors include her parents; Delbert Childs Sr and Judy N. Childs. Her brothers are; Michael Zospah, Leo Zospah, Richards Childs Sr, and Delbert Childs Jr. Her sisters are: Michelle Zospah, Wylita Zospah, Wynita Zospah and Delberta Childs. A two day wake will be held at her home on August 12, 2014 and August 13, 2014. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints in Cibecue, Arizona Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at the family plot at the Sunny Side Cemetery in Cibecue, AZ.
