James Allan Hawkey

February 8, 1965 — July 8, 2014

James Allan Hawkey was born on February 8, 1965 in Groton, New London County, Connecticut. Jim, also known as Jimmy to his close friends, was the middle child born to his mother, the late Annetta "Annette" Hill. His older brother is Robert Hawkey and his younger sister is Tammy Hill Gates. Jim and his family moved several times before settling in Arizona in 1980, when he was 15 years old. He found his true love, Debbie Reine Way, and spent the past 24 years together as husband and wife. They shared many great memories together. They were especially grateful to be the parents to their 2 children: son, David W. Hawkey and daughter, Jessika R. Hawkey. With the birth of their kids, Jimmy's family was complete and he was happy. Jim loved many things but, his two favorite things were: playing hockey or watching his favorite team, the Phoenix Coyotes, play hockey; and the other was going to concerts! And, since 1980, Jimmy never missed a concert tour of his all time favorite band, RUSH. Jim always involved his family and took them to many, many hockey games and many, many concerts; creating the best memories for his children to share. On July 8, 2014, Jim's soul was able to return home to God, who gave him life. As he was only 49 years old, he left his loved ones in shock. They still had many things for him to do and places to see, yet they find comfort in knowing that it was his time to go, so his soul can now be free. Jim will always be in the memory and hearts of his close friends and family. They truly will miss him greatly. A private family service will be held during a special barbeque at the family home. The Hawkey Family would like to publicly "Thank" Owens Livingston Mortuary for the special and loving care they gave them during this very difficult time.
