Homer Malcolm Rainey, age 94, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation Center in Lakeside, Arizona surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born January 25, 1920 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Milburn and Ethel Rainey. Homer served as an MP in the United States Army during WWII in Italy. He worked as a farmer in Michigan for a time, then came to Tucson, Arizona where he owned and operated Rainey's Luggage and Gifts for many years. He loved Hawley Lake, where he spent a lot of time fishing and enjoying nature. He traveled to Europe and spent 2 months in Hawaii. After he retired he spent much of his time baking cookies for everyone that he knew; he loved to just give them to people. One of his favorite things to do was to go out to eat. He loved the Lakeside area. Homer is survived by his 4 children: Stephen Rainey, William Rainey, Lucinda Nichols and Charmaine Koroscil; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A brother: Robert Rainey. No public services are scheduled at this time. We will update this site when any other information becomes available. Arrangements were handled thru Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel in Show Low, Arizona.
