Dennis Lee Hill entered into his eternal rest during the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at his home in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. He died peacefully following a valiant 27 month battle with cancer. He was 64 years old. Dennis was born on December 15, 1949 in Austin, Travis County, Texas to his parents, Gordon Dee, Sr. and Clyde Chastine (Humphries) Hill. Dennis was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, serving in both the Army and the Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Dennis began a long and successful career working for the City of Austin. He worked for its police department for 25 years, retiring as a police detective. He was well known and respected by hundreds and thousands within the Austin City limits and was a true friend to all within the police department where he so faithfully served. On March 8, 1992, Dennis married Peggy Marie Brown in Reno, Nevada. Together, they were able to combine both of their families into one close-knit family with incredibly tight bonds. They were all happy to be part of each others' lives. Dennis and Peggy most recently celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary together. Not only was Dennis a dedicated public servant, he also was an accomplished artist and loved to create beautiful pieces of art that were appreciated by others. Dozens of his art pieces are now considered to be precious treasures that adorn the walls of many members of his family and friends. Dennis also had the opportunity to work as a part-time actor. He even appeared in the movie, "Friday Night Lights." He played the first coach that was seen in the movie. Though his part in the movie was small, the joy he received from playing that part was great. His family is so proud of the many accomplishments he left as a legacy and consider themselves blessed to have been a part of his life. He will be greatly missed by many who've had the privilege to call him friend but, none will miss him more than those he loved the most; his family. Dennis is survived by his: beloved wife, Peggy Hill of Show Low, Arizona; father, Gordon D.
