Gerald Edward Wetchensky

February 7, 1941 — May 16, 2014

Gerald Edward Wetchensky died unexpectedly on Friday, May 16, 2014 at his home in Lakeside, Arizona from a sudden illness. He was 73 years old. Jerry, as he was affectionately known, was born on February 7, 1941 in Los Angeles, California to his parents, the late Edward Joseph and Florence Maybelle (Harrison) Wetchensky. Jerry has lived in Arizona for many years and worked throughout his life as a security guard for various employers. Jerry was able to retire from ConAir Corporation as one of its security guards after working with them for several years. He loved his job and enjoyed working with others. Never one to be idle, he always had to be "doing" something. While living in Lakeside, Jerry volunteered countless hours of his security services for the Show Low Senior Patrol. He, too, was very busy giving of his time and energy to the local schools sporting programs. He especially enjoyed teaching and coaching the kids in their soccer games. He also was a coach for the Lakeside Little League and was a familiar face at the Blue Ridge School Board meetings. Jerry loved being in the out doors and was glad to call the White Mountains "home." He loved to go fishing, at any one of his favorite fishing holes, and was an expert hunter. His games of choice were elk, deer and quail. Jerry was a man of faith and was grateful for the sacrifices that Jesus made for him. He enjoyed attending Mass at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church in Pinetop. After 9 years of dating his sweetheart, Jerry married his wife, Arthur-Etta Virginia "Ginny" Smith, who lives in Sun City and Lakeside, Arizona. They were married in Sun City on March 12, 2000. He is also survived by his 2 sons: Kevin May in the east valley of the Valley of the Sun, Arizona and Roger May of Payson, Arizona. Private family services will be held and, Jerry will be laid to rest in the forests of these beautiful White Mountains.
