Dora Dayaye was born on July 29, 1929 in Whiteriver, Arizona. Dora went home peacefully surrounded by family at the Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation Center in Lakeside, Arizona on May 17, 2014. The visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The main viewing will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 9-10 am at the Fort Apache LDS Church. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Whiteriver Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the Fort Apache LDS Branch Multi-purpose Room following interment. Dora Dayaye lived in Whiteriver, Arizona all her life. Dora is survived by her only child, Robert Francis Dayaye, Sr., and granddaughter, Mardee Germaine Dayaye and grandson, Robert Francis Dayaye, Jr. and three great grandchildren, Logan Dayaye, Angela Dayaye and Kristina Dayaye. Dora is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Dayaye and Ella Roosevelt Dayaye and one grandson, Robert Paul Ignacio Dayaye. Dora is remembered as a quiet and kind person. She loved her family and did what she could for them. When Dora was about 14 years old she went to work for the late Johnny Lee, Sr. and Mary "Kirk" Lee of Whiteriver, Arizona where she helped raise John Lee, Jr. and Don Lee, whom she considered her own. In 1953 Dora went to work at the Whiteriver Indian Hospital until she retired in 1984. In 1952 Dora was baptized at the Fort Apache LDS Church. On July 18, 1956 Dora was Endowed at the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dora remained committed to her faith throughout her life. Throughout her life, Dora Dayaye helped her family and others. She was close to her cousin Dolly Guy and her best friends, Nancy Jean Garrett, Melanie Keith, and Linda Bushman. Dora also took care of Jeanette Guy Burnette, Theodore Guy, and Dottie Guy for they had a special place in her heart and life. Dora loved and adored John William Lee, Jr., Don Lee, and Winnie Lee (Mrs. Don Lee). It meant the world to Dora when all three traveled great distance to be with her. The family of Dora Dayaye wants to sincerely thank the staff of Sierra Blance Rehabilitation Center in Lakeside, Arizona for taking very good care of Dora and especially during Dora's last days and Owens Livingston Mortuary for their professional and caring services.
