In loving memory of Leo Tessay, also known as "L.E", who passed away on May 7, 2014 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. He was 66. L.E was born on March 13, 1948 in Cibecue, Navajo County, Arizona and was raised there by his parents the late Rupee Danford and Roy Tessay. Survivors include: 3 uncles, Abner Tessay Sr., Calvert Tessay Sr. and Levi Dehose; 3 aunts, Gussie Dehose, Darlene Tessay and Carmalita Childs; 1 daughter, Olivia Tessay Peaches (Leo); 2 sons, Leonard and Eric Tessay; 2 granddaughters, Lisa Rose Peaches and April Jeannine Peaches as well as 2 grandsons, Luke Skye Peaches and Chrispin Arrow Peaches. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Gilbert Tessay Sr. and Theodore Billy Tessay. As a child Leo was very active in the Boy Scouts of America reaching the rank of Tenderfoot in 1962. He attended school and graduated the 8th grade from the Cibecue Day School on May 19, 1964. Follow his graduation from Cibecue he attended and graduated from the Sherman Indian High School in Riverside, California in 1969. Following his graduation Leo worked as an archeologist in the Grasshopper area in 1973. After his time serving as an archeologist he painted houses for many years before going to work for FATCO at the sawmill in Cibecue. Leo had a huge love for music. He was a fan of Elvis Presley and loved playing his guitar. He found much enjoyment in passing his love and talent of playing the guitar to his grandkids. Leo also enjoyed spending time with his close cousins and his many friends. One of his many talents was that he excelled at sign language and enjoyed interacting with his mute friends as well. Leo was a very humble and generous man. His kindness, laughter and smile will be missed by those who knew him best, especially his grandkids. A two night wake will be held 11:00AM Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the family residence, 16 E. 2nd St, in Cibecue, Arizona. A home service will be held 11:00 Saturday, May 17. Interment will follow in the Open Range Cemetery also in Cibecue.
