Frank Wolford Shugart, 89, entered into rest with the Lord on May 6, 2014 in Snowflake, Navajo County, Arizona. He died in his home surrounded by loved ones. Frank was born on October 1, 1924 in Maxwell, New Mexico to Louis Alfred and Katie (Wolford) Shugart. Frank served his country by enlisting in the Navy and served aboard the USS Villa-Lobos, a tanker in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon returning home he met his wife Alice. They soon married and raised 5 children together. He loved his family and valued the times spent together. Frank worked for Western Molding Company and Southwest Forest Industries as the Fire Prevention Coordinator. Upon retirement, he and his wife enjoyed many travels together. Frank was a well known member of the Snowflake-Taylor community for 60 years, and was loved and admired by many. He was a generous and kind-hearted man, always eager to help any in need. Over the years, he was actively involved in various community activities. Frank was a volunteer fire fighter for many years, and a member of the American Legion. He and his wife, Alice, served meals on wheels, tutored Spanish in the schools and worked in the church cannery for many years. Among his hobbies were woodworking, camping and travelling. Frank and Alice loved square dancing and were instrumental in building the White Mountain Square Dance Club. He was well known for his famous pit BBQ served at their annual square dance festivals. Frank's familiar smile, his great sense of humor and caring nature will be missed. His life was a blessing to all. Frank is survived by his children, Candice (Keith, deceased) Pundt of Snowflake, Arizona, Louis (Brenda) Shugart of Logandale, Nevada, Suzan (John) Clark of Oxford, Mississippi, Kelly (Wayne) Jones of Taylor, Arizona and Donna (Billy) Rogers of Taylor, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Alice (Howard) Shugart, his parents, two sisters and four brothers. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 48 North Main Street, Snowflake, Arizona. The public visitation will be Friday evening at 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Heritage Chapel, 84 East 19th South, Snowflake and one-hour prior to services on Saturday at the Church. Concluding Services and Interment will be in the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
