Lenard James Chapple, 69, of Snowflake, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Westwood, California, to Harry and Thelma Chapple on November 23, 1944, the youngest of three sons. Lenard grew up in Northern California. He moved to Southern California with his mother for his senior year of high school, graduating form Westminster High School in 1963. He attended Orange Coast College before serving a full-time mission from 1965 to 1967 for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After his mission, he attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he met Marilyn McCleve from Show Low, Arizona. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on November 26, 1968. Several months later, they moved to Huntington Beach, California and lived there for six years where their first four children were born. Since they were both raised in small towns, they wanted to raise their children in a small town. They moved to Snowflake in 1975 and have lived there ever since. Four more children joined their family, for a total of eight (four boys and four girls). Throughout his life, Lenard loved serving in the church. His favorite callings were Scout leader, home teacher and his most recent calling of High Priest group leader. He also served several stake missions. One of his passions was helping others in any way he could. If someone needed help fixing something around the house, he would fix it. He loved spending time with his family, reading and doing projects around the house. Lenard is survived by his wife Marilyn, children: Melanie Egbert (Lon) Wendell, Idaho; Scott Chapple (Heather) West Jordan, Utah; Kevin Chapple (Merica) South Jordan Utah; Stephanie Johnson (Jared) Peoria, Arizona; Ryan Chapple (Heather) Boise, Idaho; Ashley Peart (Jeremy) West Jordan, Utah; daughter-in-law Shirley Turley (Darren) Gilbert, Arizona; and 32 grandchildren. He is survived by his mother Thelma Burgess and siblings Ben and Leroy Chapple. He was preceded in death by two of his children, James (Shirley) and Tiffany.
