Robert Ervin Cheney Jr.

Robert (Rob) Ervin Cheney Jr., 54, passed away at home on Saturday, March 1, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones. Rob was born, the 1st of twins, in Holbrook, Arizona to his parents, Robert and Rachel Cheney. He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1977 where he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Once returning home he began working at The Petrified Forest National Park, and later worked for the City of Holbrook and Navajo County. He was a member of the American Legion Post #37, Commander twice and Color Guard Member. Rob enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood work, cooking and working on his yard. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by them all. Survivors include his three children, George, Emily and Terrence; his grandchildren, Alaya and Jordan; mother, Rachel Cheney of Holbrook; three sisters, Rosalie Fischer (Don) of Holbrook, Victoria Salmons of Fulton, Missouri and Nancy Canada (Wil) of Phoenix; two brothers, Timothy Cheney of Mesa, Arizona and David Cheney of Holbrook as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cheney and twin brother, Richard Cheney. In lieu of flowers please consider donations in Rob's honor to the Hospice Compassus of Flagstaff, 1000 N. Humphreys Suite#220, Flagstaff, Arizona 86001. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 9:30AM Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona, Holbrook with the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to immediately follow. Inurnment will take place in the Holbrook Cemetery with military honors rendered by the American Legion Post #37.
