Sibyl Allen

March 24, 1928 — January 15, 2014

Sibyl(Whipple) Allen, age 85, loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2014 at the home of her son, John and Ann Allen in San Tan Valley, Arizona. She was born to Orson Temple Whipple and to Grace Randall March 24, 1928 in Whiteriver, Arizona. She was the oldest of ten children and loved and helped care for them all. They said their ranch was outside of Show Low at the time even though Show Low High School is on part of it now. She grew up and lived in Show Low, Arizona where she met and married the love of her life, Paul W. Allen. They were married in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on January 22, 1948.She and Paul raised their children in Taylor, Arizona. She is survived by her seven children: Wendell (Ginger) of Show Low, John (Ann) of San Tan Valley, Les (Kathy) of Peoria, Marlene (Boyd) Westover of Joseph City, Lewis (Celeste) of Taylor, Caroline (Rob) Solomon of Queen Creek and Brad of Taylor. There are 27 grandchildren and 43 1/2 great grandchildren. Her grandparents and great grandparents were settlers in the early days of Arizona Territory. She never traveled far and yet she sent her descendants throughout the world to make it a better place. She taught them to work, serve others, and to live with integrity after the manner of happiness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Love Lake Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taylor, Arizona. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 6-8 pm at the Owens Livingston Mortuary in Snowflake, Arizona, and also at 9 am on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery.
