Katherine Lela Hayes

Katherine Lela Hayes, of Holbrook, Navajo County, Arizona peacefully passed away at her home in Holbrook on November 29, 2013. She was 78. Katherine was born to her parents the late Charlie and Lela (Barnett) Wright in Broken Bow, McCurtain County, Oklahoma on February 5, 1935. Katherine loved children. She raised her children and helped raise many of her grandchildren, something she was very proud of. She retired from the Navajo County Sherriffs Office in 1997 after 13years of service. Following her retirement, Katherine loved to stay busy and spent many hours crocheting. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend Katherine will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Felton Hayes of Holbrook; daughters, Sandra (Albert) Reyes of Holbrook, Donna Cochran of Holbrook, Sharon McCown of Goodyear, Arizona; sons, Roy (Martha) Hayes of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gary Hayes of Kingman, Arizona; grandson she raised, David Hayes of Holbrook; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Christine Autry of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Little Felton Hayes; great-grandson, Jerry Don Hayes Jr.; brothers, Truman and Herschel Wright and sisters, Dorothy Cleveland, Lois Cummings and Lucille Watson. Graveside services will be held 1:00PM Wednesday December 4, 2013 at the Holbrook Cemetery in Holbrook.
