Jim William Prentice

November 11, 1948 — October 25, 2013

Jimmy (Jim) Prentice of Show Low, Arizona, was born on November 11, l948 in O'Kean, Arkansas. He passed away on October 25, 20l3 under Hospice Care at Webb's Adult Care Home in Snowflake, Arizona. Jim lived in several states prior to moving to Show Low, Arizona where he lived for 35 years. He loved Show Low and called it the best place in the world to live. He made it clear that he would never move anywhere else. A lot of Jim's years were spent working as an automobile mechanic in Pine Top where he had his own shop. He enjoyed his work, and although he spent a lot of hours doing it, he still took plenty of time to enjoy his hobbies . Jim loved the out doors and spent a lot of time gardening, hunting and fishing. Many children in his neighborhood who came to pick pumpkins for Halloween enjoyed his pumpkin patch. He always planted enough corn to share with friends as well. He especially enjoyed hunting for elk and kept his freezer stocked with elk meat as well as fish which he had caught. When medical issues prevented him from being able to do his hobbies as before, he continued to use his special red chain saw in his back yard to cut up wood for his fireplace. He truly loved being outside in the open space as much as he was able. Significant people in Jim's life who have gone on before him include: his wife Phyllis Wolenberg of Show Low, Arizona, his parents, Vernon W. Prentice and Orba Prentice of Chicago, Illinois, a brother, Vern W. Prentice of Cottonwood, Arizona, two sisters, Peggy J. Cathey and Linda A. Prentice of Illinois, and two of his best friends, Walter John Skeldon and William "Woody" Prinz of the Show Low area.
