Kenneth Ray Lee Sr., of Holbrook, Navajo County, Arizona peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on November 2, 2013 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. Ken was born to John H. "Jack" Lee and Virginia Lawson on October 10, 1940 in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona but was raised by his father and step-mother, Evelyn "Sammy" Lee. Ken was a veteran of the United States Navy having served 2 tours in Vietnam where he was stationed on a Medivac Ship and earned many accommodations. Following his time in the service Ken was honorably discharged and returned to the United States. Ken was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and spend time by a quiet lake or stream. He enjoyed hiking and "moseying" around finding arrowheads and bottles with his dogs. He was an animal lover of all kinds and enjoyed feeding the birds and especially spending time any way he could with his four-legged companions. He truly loved the White Mountains and considered it the most beautiful place in the world. An avid card player he loved cribbage and enjoyed collecting stamps. During the most recent years of Ken's life he was actively trying to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This was extremely important to him and he was looking forward to the day he was to be baptized. Ken is survived by his son, Kenneth Ray Lee Jr. (Ferna) of Bloomfield, New Mexico; daughter, Denise Roberts (John) of Fremont, California; grandchildren, Rafael A. White (Erma) of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Charlotte Purley of Bloomfield, Tiffany Purley of Bloomfield, Olivia Lee of Bloomfield, Kyle Roberts of Fremont, California and Nicole Roberts of Fremont; great-grandchildren, Amy Bitanny, Ethan White, Harvey Chavez; brothers, Jack Lee of Winslow, Arizona, Richard "Snick" Lee of Prescott, Arizona and Ray Preston of Crownpoint, New Mexico as well as many extended family members and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, John H. "Jack" and Evelyn "Sammy" Lee. Ken's family would like to send a special "Thank You" to the staff at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, long time family friends Ann and Maynard and his wonderful long time neighbors in Holbrook for all their love and support. Memorial services will be held 12:00 Noon on Saturday November 16, 2013 at the American Legion Hall, 290 E. Iowa, Holbrook, Arizona.
