Jalen Brent Classay, known to all as Jay, entered into Eternal Life during the early morning of Saturday, October 5, 2013 in McNary, Arizona. He was 19 years old. Jay was born on October 9, 1993 in Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona to his mother, Brenda Cruz Burnette, and his father, Jere Classay. Jay graduated from Alchesay High School in 2011 and later attended Mesa Community College. He always looked for the joy in life and got along great with everyone. He truly had a special connection with many and was just an all around good guy. Jay enjoyed playing video games with his friends and in his younger years enjoyed playing soccer but mostly he was an excellent baseball and basketball player. He always looked forward to the winter months in anticipation of the snows that would fall so he could go play in it. He loved snowboarding and was quite good at it. Jay had an incredible sense of humor and was "the one family member" that could keep everybody happy and laughing, as he loved to tease others. Jay is survived by his mother & step-father, Brenda Cruz and Colbert Burnette; father, Jere Classay; 3 brothers: Jaonte Burnette, Jace Classay, Jaden Classay; 2 sisters: Jaleighia Burnette, JaTyana Burnette; grandparents: Manuel & Josephine Cruz and Randy, Sr. and Maria Classay. Jay is also survived by many other family members as well as a host of friends. Jalen will be brought home 10:00 A.M. on, what would have been his 20th birthday, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 813 E. Oak Street in McNary for a 1 night wake. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Fort Apache Branch Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Crocker Family Plot on River Road.
