Ramona "Mona" Padilla, of Holbrook, Navajo County, Arizona suddenly passed away on August 29, 2013 at the Flagstaff Medical Center in Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona at the age of 73. Mona was born to the late Juventino and Josephine (Guerrero) Alvarez on February 28, 1940 in Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona. Mona was an active member at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was an enormous fixture for the church and was always helping with any activity she could. She was a friendly face to many and had an infectious smile that could light up the room. She was always busy helping others in their time of need and never expected anything in return. Mona was well loved by everyone in the community and never met a stranger. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her kind heart and gentle ways will be missed by all whom were blessed to have called her "friend." She is survived by her daughter, Mona Lisa Padilla of Holbrook, Arizona; granddaughter, Faith Esperenza Padilla of Holbrook; sisters, Vivian (George) Flores of Phoenix, Arizona, Mary Alvarez of Holbrook, Lila (Lawerence) Pipkins of Phoenix; brother, Henry Alvarez Sr. of Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Santos Padilla and sisters, Patsy Killian, Tommy Moreno, Victoria Guzman and Alice Garcia. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona in Holbrook. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 7, 2013 also at the church. The inurnment will immediately follow the mass at the Holbrook Cemetery in Holbrook, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Frederick.
