Richard Clair Fountain

November 27, 1946 — August 26, 2013

Richard "Dick" Fountain started his new venture the afternoon of August 26, 2013. Loved and treasured, Dick will be forever missed. He was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire to his parents, Leland and Rachel Fountain shortly after his twin sister Betty Lee was born. He always rubbed it in that Betty Lee was the oldest. Although born in New Hampshire, Dick was raised in White River Junction, Vermont and was a true Vermonter. Even though he learned to love and appreciate his adopted state of Arizona, his heart was truly in Vermont. Dick was a true American, proud Veteran and Patriot. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and served proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the local VFW post and assisted in building the VFW memorial in Lakeside, Arizona. He also went to culinary school. Dick moved to Phoenix in his early 20's starting a career in the construction trade. He moved his family to Lakeside in August of 1979 and realized his dream of opening his own electrical contracting business. After suffering from Lyme disease and complications afterwards, he was encouraged to retire in 2004. He decided to turn over the reins to his son Chad and wife Sue, so that he could spend time doing things that he enjoyed, such as spending time with the family, watching his grandchildren grow and experience new things in life, working with his horses, wood working, fishing trips to Roosevelt and Kalispell, Montana. Anything out doors is where he wanted to be. He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Herbert. He left behind his loving wife of 46 years, Sue, his family Peter (Melissa), Chad (Nicole), Jennifer (Paul), and his grandchildren Nicole, Leland, Megan, Mitchell, Tanner, Asch and Ashlei. He is also survived by his mother Rachal of Kalispell, Montana, his twin sister Betty Lee (Henry) Cichowski of Kila, Montana, sister Dale King of Placerville, California, as well as an aunt, uncle and cousins in Vermont and nieces and nephews "all over the place." He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, mother, sisters, family and friends. Dick's family will have a private memorial service and will follow it within the next few months with a celebration of life, hoping to share a special time with family and friends who would like to gather in Dick's memory. Although a great lover of flowers, Dick would suggest donations to your favorite charities, or to "pass it forward" to someone who has a need. The family would like to thank this community for their support and encouragement through the years, and especially at this time of losing Sue's "sweet man." Arrangements were made thru Owens Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel of Show Low, Arizona. UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION: The family of Dick Fountain will host a celebration of life on Saturday, September 21st in The Orchard at Charlie Clark's. Our celebration will start at 4:00 pm and end "whenever." We will have tables set up under the pavilion for anyone who wants to come by and say "Hi", and will have a memory book available for those who might want to share some of their memories and experiences of Dick with the family. Please feel free to stop by, even for a moment, we would by happy to see you there.
