Dorine Johns Poe died Monday, July 29, 2013 at St. Josephs Hospital in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona following a sudden illness. She was 80 years old. Dorine was born on November 20, 1932 in Virden, Hidalgo County, New Mexico to her parents, the late Floyd and Wanda (Brown) Johns. In her younger years, Dorine was an avid volleyball and softball player. She participated in, literally, hundreds of games and dozens of tournaments throughout the years. She actively enjoyed playing sports until her late sixties. Ever since, Dorine has enjoyed being a spectator sitting on the sidelines, bleachers or watching volleyball and softball on TV. Also, as a young woman, Dorine moved in and out of Arizona until permanently moving here 50 years ago. For several years, Dorine made her home in Taylor. Dorine was devoted to her family and lived to serve their needs. She was a loving mother to her children and a doting grandmother to her grandkids and great-grandkids. She always had a special affinity for little children as they truly brought her much joy during her life. Dorine enjoyed traveling throughout her 80 years and appreciated the the diverse beauty in which she lived. She was young at heart and had an incredibly willing spirit to do things that always kept her on the go. She was a member of the Taylor 6th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings in her ward. She was loved by many and will greatly be missed. Dorine is survived by 7 children; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Viola Moore, Floydine Hicks, Alice Fay Brown; 2 brothers: Robert Johns and Roger Johns. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Johnnie Gonzales and by a son, Floyd Cole. The public visitation for Dorine will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 2, 2013 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Heritage Chapel, 84 E. 19th South in Snowflake, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Centennial Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 800 N. Centennial Boulevard in Taylor, Arizona where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will be late that afternoon at 5:00 P.M. at the Virden Cemetery in Virden, New Mexico.
