Leona V. Pickens, age 99 of Snowflake, Arizona passed away of natural causes on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Carriage House on West Garden Lane in Snowflake, Navajo County, Arizona. Leona was born on March 11, 1914 in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona to Charles Spencer & Leona Burke. She was the fourth of nine children. In 1981 she returned to Arizona living the remainder of her life in Snowflake. Leona was a person of many talents including painting, photography, needlework and sewing. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Leona is survived by her four children, Coy L. Pickens, Lana C. Pickens, Milton D. Pickens and Maurice E. Pickens; 7 grandchildren, Aimee & Trenton (children of Coy), Gabriel & Alexander (children of Milton) Pamela, Celeste and Rebecca (children of Maurice); her loving niece, Thea (Leonard) Hudson, and their 7 children who considered her their grandmother. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Snowflake Stake Center, 9th South 2nd Street, Snowflake, Arizona. There will be a visitation from 10:00 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to White Mountain Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1975, Lakeside, Arizona 85929. Owens Livingston Mortuary Heritage Chapel of Snowflake is handling the arrangements.
