William Henry Stahl

September 7, 1935 — June 15, 2013

William Henry "Bill" Stahl died in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona following a valiant battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. Bill was born on Saturday, September 7, 1935 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio to his parents, the late Clifford and Marie (Wellman) Stahl. As a young boy, Bill moved to Tucson, Arizona from his native Ohio in the early 1940s. In October of 1956, Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona. He received his honorable discharge from the Air Force in October of 1962. Following his military service, Bill worked alongside his father at the family radiator business. When his father died, he took over the business and ran it for several more years. In 1982, Bill moved to the White Mountains of Arizona and made his home in Show Low. After moving to Show Low, he open and operated his own business, Stahl's Radiators for many years. He married his wife, Phylis Jean Francoeur Meixsell on December 31, 1985 in Show Low. The couple lived the past 27-1/2 years happily as husband and wife and thoroughly enjoyed to be in each other's company. Even after his retirement, Bill felt the need to always stay busy. He worked for a time at Pat's Place Pizza making deliveries. He also worked as a cabby for a local taxi service. Wherever he hung his hat, Bill was a friendly and familiar face. Bill was a huge NASCAR racing enthusiast. Whenever there was a race on t.v., he was watching it. He also was a regular at Show Low's Thunder Raceway, where he was a flagman. Too, he sold parts at Thunder Raceway at SRS (Stahl's Racing Supplies). One of the things that Bill looked forward to every year were his semi-annual trips to The Valley to attend the P.I.R. (Phoenix International Raceway). One of the greatest racing highlights of his life occurred 5 years ago when he and Phylis were able to attend Daytona's 50th Anniversary in Florida. Bill will forever be remembered, loved and respected by many in the White Mountains but none will miss him more than his own family. Bill is survived by his wife, Phylis Stahl of Show Low, Arizona; 5 children: Steven (Mila) Stahl of Holbrook, Arizona, Phillip Stahl of Tucson, Arizona, Melissa "Missy" (Marty) Fish of Show Low, Arizona, Shannon (Scott) Pearson of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Justin (Sandy) Meixsell of Fort Drum, New York; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Spencer in April of this year and by a granddaughter, Samantha Alexander. The memorial service for Bill will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona.
