Dorothy Marie Lyle died Monday morning, June 3, 2013 at her home in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona following a short illness. She was 92 years old. Marie, as she was known, was born at the family home on May 16, 1921 in Grapeland, Houston County, Texas to her parents, the late Edd Duncan and Ella Mae (Clark) Clark. On August 20, 1941, Marie married her life's love, Roy Lyle, in Amherst, Hockley County, Texas. Throughout her life, Marie owned and operated Lyle's Cafe where she was known for her hospitality and delicious meals. She had a knack for serving the needs of others and always enjoyed taking care of her family. Following their retirement in 1985, the Lyles moved to the White Mountains of Arizona and made Lakeside their home. Marie and Roy were married for nearly 52 years when Roy died on April 24, 1993. Her quiet and gentle ways will be missed greatly by her family. Marie is survived by 5 children: Nyla Ann Marie (Arb) Potter of Show Low and Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Shirley Jean Clayton of Lakeside, Arizona, Lynell (Lyle) Stromsodt of Ukaipah, California, David Ray (Olivia) Lyle of Federal Way, Washington, Nancy Ellen (Calvin) Cooper of Red Bluff, California; 2 brothers: Clifford Anderson Clark of Oklahoma, Carrol Wally (Jean) Clark of Prescott, Arizona; 9 grandchildren: 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Along with her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by 7 of her siblings: Earl Clark, Baby Boy Clark, Jewel Conboy, Lena Parker, Ruby Collowell, Lura Mae, Pearl Clark and by 1 granddaughter, Deborah. A graveside service for Marie will begin 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Show Low Cemetery where the inurnment will also take place. The service will be officiated by Chaplain Kevin Weaver of Hospice Compassus.
