Vernon Cecil Totherow born May 23, 1942 went home to be with his wife Mary on May 14, 2013, after a long illness. Vernon was a long time resident of Lakeside Arizona after moving his family here from the valley in the early 1970's. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged, and was retired from the Carpenters Union. Vernon was also an avid hunter, loved building, and driving race cars, and was named points champion at Thunder Raceway in street stocks. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife, Mary Totherow. Vernon leaves his two sons, Vernon Wayne Totherow of Lakeside, Arizona and Donald G. Totherow of Show Low Arizona; two grandchildren, Wayne Totherow, and Nickolas Totherow both of Queen Creek, Arizona; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel Totherow of Oklahoma and Edward Totherow of Texas, with too many other friends and acquaintances to mention. No funeral services were arranged, Vernon's wishes were that his ashes be spread with his wife Mary's ashes at a place they chose together. A small memorial service will be held sometime in the future.
