Deanna Dee Hornbake

Deanna Dee Hornbake, 72, passed away peacefully at her home on May 6th, 2013, after a short illness, with her family at her bedside. Deanna Dee and her twin sister, Leanna Lee, were born Feb 20th, 1941 to June and Lambert Ward in Syracuse, Kansas. Dee grew up on a ranch in Stephenville, Texas until her sophomore year of high school. She finished high school in Fort Morgan, Colorado and attended Colorado State University for one year before marrying Bill Myers of Phoenix, Arizona, in June 1962. Dee and Bill had two children, Leslie and Jeff. Dee married her second husband, Jim Hornbake, in 1976 in Scottsdale, Arizona. They retired to a ranch in Concho, Arizona in 1990. Dee was a very accomplished golfer and believed in giving back to the game that she loved. She dedicated many years to the Arizona Women's Golf Association and Arizona Junior Girls Golf. In 2005, Dee was inducted into the Arizona Golf Hall of Fame. Dee had a great love of animals ,enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, gardening, bowling, going to the beach, hunting for seashells, watching sunsets and enjoying her family. Dee will always be remembered as a caring, compassionate, kind person. She had the ability to make people feel special. She will be missed by so many, especially her family and her loyal, devoted yellow lab, Beau. Those left to treasure her memories are her husband, Jim Hornbake; Mother, June Perdue; twin, sister Leanna Lee Constance; daughter, Leslie (Jim); son, Jeff (Cindy); nephew, Travis (Shannon, Dalton and Moya); niece, Kim (Kasper and Keegan); and six grandchildren Briana, Brittney, Kayla, Kyle, Michael, and Justin. Dee is preceded in death by her father, Lambert Ward. There will be a private family memorial service at her ranch in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Best Friends Animal Society at bestfriends.org or Wild Animal Sanctuary at wildanimalsanctuary.org or Hospice Foundation of the White Mountains P.O.
