Mark Allen Freter

March 6, 1959 — April 22, 2013

Mark Allen Freter, MD died Monday, April 22, 2013 at his home in Lakeside, Arizona following a brief illness. He was 54 years old. He was born in Frederick, Maryland to the parents of Hank and Sandra (Tucker) Freter. He grew up in Willow Springs, MO with his mother and two brothers. Mark attended college at the University of Missouri and earned his undergraduate degree in Animal Husbandry. He went on to earn his medical degree in 1991. Mark was Board Certified in Family Practice, but worked exclusively in Emergency Medicine. He had a strong passion for his practice. Not only did he enjoy his work, co-workers and staff, he was very kind and caring to the patients he attended. He has many, many letters of thanks from patients and their families thanking him for his expert care and most of all his genuine compassion. He loved teaching medicine and took extra time with staff to help them learn. Mark worked in various places, Missouri, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and eventually Arizona where he met and married his wife, DeAnne in 2006. He loved skiing, fly fishing, playing guitar and building friendships. But most of all he loved his beautiful children Seth and Sage. They were the most important thing in his life. Also, his faith in Jesus really came out of everything he did. He is survived by: his wife DeAnne, children Seth and Sage of Washington, mother Sandra and brother Kevin, Willow Springs, MO, brother Mike and Joy and three nephews of Tulsa, OK. With the marriage to DeAnne, he also grew to love her daughters and the 8 grandchildren that came with it. Papa will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Hank Freter of Tulsa, OK. Memorial services will be held June 1, 2013 at 2 PM, Pomona Christian Church, Pomona, MO. The Freter family is thankful for the many expressions of sympathy they have received and are especially grateful for the prayers offered up on their behalf.
