Clair Jorgensen passed away, peacefully, on April 24, 2013. He was 84 years old. Clair was born on March 8, 1929 in Ogden, Utah, the son of William Henry and Elizabeth Ann Jorgensen. From 1949 to 1951, Clair served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's degree and went on to complete his Master's degree. He served 3 years in the U.S. Navy on a sub tender. In 1960, he accepted a teaching position in Show Low, Arizona and continued until his retirement in 1989 (he taught four years in Utah), for a total of 33 years in the teaching profession. He served faithfully in many callings in the Show Low 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clair enjoyed music and participated in the White Mountain Chorale for several years. He also loved playing the harmonica; entertaining his family on many occasions. He was skilled in the art of woodworking as well. He married Patricia Pew in the Salt Lake Temple on October 2, 1959. Clair is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Pat), their five children: Gina Adams (Ferrell), Kevin, Sue Smith (Lynn), Mandy Smith (Jeff) and Brent (Shirley); 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one sister, Beverly Whitney. The public visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th Street in Show Low, Arizona where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service, with military honors, and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery.
