"Our Good-time Grandma", Elaine John Westover died just as a new day was dawning on Friday, April 5, 2013 at The Carriage House in Snowfake, Navajo County, Arizona following a lengthy illness incident to her age. She was 96 years old. Elaine was born in Mancos, Colorado on January 25, 1917 to her parents, the late Charles Henry and Mary Alice (Ellis) John. Elaine moved from her native Colorado home to Arizona at the age of 18. She has lived in Joseph City for many, many years and knew just about everybody in town and everyone in town, in turn, knew her. She was a wonderful mother to her family and a devoted wife to her husband and truly was a loving daughter to her parents. She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout her long life. Elaine Westover is survived by her 6 children: Nelda (Kenneth) Orton of Payson, Utah, Myron (Kay) Westover of Vallecito, Colorado, Charles Maurice (Pearl) Westover of Woodruff, Arizona, Lorene (Jim) Hunt of Dallas Texas, Eileen (Paul) Mueller of Peoria, Arizona, Vicki Wagner of Goodyear, Arizona; 24 foster-children; 28 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren and 36 great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Marius Fenn Westover; sister, Edna May John, brother and sister-in-law, Cecil & Pauline John; daughter, Evelyn Westover; 2 grandsons: Kevin Orton, Edward Westover; 2 great-grandsons: Joshua Orton and Darrin Orton. The public visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Joseph City Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The funeral service will also take place at the Joseph City Chapel beginning at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2013, where additional visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Joseph City Cemetery in Joseph City.
