Brett Randall DeWitt died, unexpectedly, on Monday, April 1, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 23 years old. Brett was born on November 13, 1989 in Okmulgee, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma to his parents, Michael Keith and Charlene Neoma (Justice) DeWitt. Though he was born in Okmulgee, Brett was reared in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He was a 2008 graduate of Henryetta High School and was one of the valedictorians of his class. Moving from his native Oklahoma to Utah a few years ago, Brett enjoyed living in the Provo/Orem area. Brett was truly an amazing young man who found beauty in the world in which he lived and, in his wisdom, Brett was able to write down those things that were important to him so they could be shared with the world. In his own words: "I love my Family! I love music. I love my beautiful, beautiful friends. I love my sweet Loretta Martin (my bass guitar). I love deep conversation with deep people. I love people. I love creating anything. I love my bumperless '98 Accord. I love my mini-fridge. I love my parties and gatherings. I love being alone. I love my Oklahoma roots. I love dogs. I love women. And, I love singing!" Brett was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and his family finds a great deal of peace and comfort knowing that "Families Can Be Together Forever." Brett is survived by his parents: Michael Keith and Charlene Neoma (Justice) DeWitt of Henryetta, Oklahoma; 4 sibilings: Tara DeWitt of Salt Lake City, Adam (Jacqueline) DeWitt of Provo, Utah, Lindsey (Reece) Rovig of Lehi, Utah, Logan DeWitt of Henryetta, Oklahoma; 1 nephew, Jaden Rovig, 1 niece, Brynlee Rovig; grandparents: Keith & Marian DeWitt of Holbook, Arizona, Red Justice of Montana; aunts and uncles: Darolyn DeWitt of Joseph City, Arizona, Alan (Lisa) DeWitt of Snowflake, Arizona, Trenna (Albert) Hunt of Holbrook, Arizona, Scott (Tracy) DeWitt of Lehi, Utah, Bill (April) Justice of Montana, David (Patricia) Justice or Alabama, Mike Justice of Florida, Pat Justice of Montana, Eddie (Nicole) Justice of Wyoming; sister: Rachel (Alan) Ridenour of Montana; great-grandmother Fay Stratton of Snowflake; He, too, was a favorite to all of his cousins.
