Dennis Steenhard passed away in Show Low, AZ on February 10, 2013. He was born on July 31, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa. He joined the Iowa National Guard at the age of 17 and then transferred to the Navy when he turned 18. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Macon CA132 as a Machinist Mate 2nd class until he was discharged in 1964. He moved his family to Yuma, Arizona in 1967 and went to work for the AZ Department of Transportation which he retired from. Not wanting to sit idle, he decided to work security at YPG and later at Cocopah Casino. He spent his final years in Show Low, AZ fishing. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and DAV. He loved to fish and hunt. He is survived by his brother, Larrie Steenhard; sister, Shelmerdene Perry; daughters, Michelle Smetts, Ronda Finch, Kim Peterson, Teresa Arnold; son, Steve Steenhard; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held 11:00 A.M. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the American Legion Hall in Yuma, AZ.
