Charlie Gene Jennings, known by all as "Uncle Chock", passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation Center in Lakeside, Arizona. Charlie was born one of eight children to his parents, the late Oscar VanBuren and Maud May (McKinney) Jennings on March 24, 1932 in Tupelo, Coal County, Oklahoma. Charlie obtained his GED, then pursued a career in Law Enforcement as a prison guard. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Arizona Department of Corrections after 25 years of service. He enjoyed classic cars, country music, dancing with his wife, Dessie, quail hunting, fishing, old werstern movies, going to breakfast with his brother, Mart, and especially CHOCOLATE! (which is how he earned his nickname!) He is survived by his only surviving brother, Mart Jennings of Show Low, Arizona; 1 daughter, Ronda Jennings of California; 3 sons: Anthony McEntire of California, James (Lara) Gildon of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Gerry Gildon of Texas. Charlie is also survived by several grandchildren, sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and many other friends who will truly miss him. Along with his parents and other siblings, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie. The funeral service will begin 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona, where the visitation will begin one hour prior. Immediately following the funeral service a special dinner will be provided and all are warmly invited to attend.
