Rosita Padilla Daoang died just as a new day was dawning on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada following a brief battle with colon cancer. She was 76 years old. Rosita was born on October 5, 1936 in Waimanalo, Honolulu County, Hawaii to her parents, the late Antonio and Teodorica (Pascua) Padilla. Rosita married her childhood sweetheart, Henry Calija Daoang, Sr. on October 11, 1953 in Waimanalo, Hawaii. Throughout their nearly 60 year marriage, she was a loving wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother to her family. During her husband's lifetime military career, Rosita had the opportunity to live in various places throughout the world including: Germany, Georgia, Texas, Hawaii and has lived the last 32 years in Las Vegas, Nevada. She always made her house a home and caring for her family was first and foremost in her priorities, as she loved them very much. She was always there for her husband and children. Naturally, Rosita was a quiet individual and, never wanting to burden others, she kept things to herself. Her sister said, "She was an angel in the eyes of God." Rosita's life forever changed when Henry died on October 8th of 2012. In her younger years, Rosita loved to dance. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in the May Day Dance Festivals in her native Hawaii. Rosita possessed an incredible green thumb and enjoyed doing yard work and gardening. She loved all things tropical. Her favorite flowers were gardenias, orchids and jasmine. Over the years, Rosita literally crocheted hundreds of doilies, blankets and afghans. She had a favorite video poker machine at the El Cortez Casino in Las Vegas where she was a friendly and familiar face to many. Rosita is survived by her 6 children: Teresa (David) Bianchini, Henrietta (Joe) Ruvolo, Henry C., Jr. (Sammie) Daoang, Darryl A. Daoang, Allan Daoang, Paula Daoang; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 of her 11 siblings: Corazon Tolentino, Bernardo (Lani) Villanueva, Rosalina Takis, Gloria Trogdon, Carlos (Patty) Padilla, Jose Padilla, Miguel (Frances) Josue, Manuel (Gloria) Josue, Inigo (Joyce) Josue and Allan Josue. Along with her parents and husband, Rosita was preceded in death by one brother, Alfredo Villanueva. Public visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday, February 26, 2013 at Hite's Funeral Home, 438 W. Sunset Road in Henderson, Nevada. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 204 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada. The concluding service and interment will follow at 12 Noon at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Boulevard in Boulder City, Nevada where she will be laid to rest with of her husband, Henry.
