Wendy Donalda Havins died early in the morning on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at her home in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona following a valiant battle with cancer. She was 68 years old. Wendy was born on November 29, 1944 to her parents, the late Nels Andrew and Evelyn Goodwin (Stewart) Neilson. As a young girl, Wendy moved from her native Canadian soil to The United States. She was a bright young woman and excelled in her studies. Wendy attended North Hollywood High School and was a member of its Graduating Class of 1962. Never knowing a stranger, Wendy was well-liked by everyone. She enjoyed working with people and, for nearly 25 years, she owned and operated Wendy Havins Promotions, specializing in promotional products for various companies. The last 15 years of her working career, she worked closely with Primerica, supplying them with their promotional needs. Wendy married her sweetheart, Ed Havins on September 7, 1991 in Brea, California. Young at heart, Wendy always had a fun streak within her. She loved her family very much and always made the most of their time together. Wendy was a great card player and always enjoyed a good game of "Texas Hold 'Em". She moved to Show Low 8 years ago from California and truly loved the beauty of the White Mountains. For several years, she and Ed enjoyed traveling to their vacation home at Playa Coyote outside of Mulege near Baja California Sur, Mexico. To her, that was a little piece of Heaven and she loved to relax there. Wendy is survived by her husband, Ed Havins of Show Low, Arizona; 1 son, Dustin Borklund of Brea, California; 1 daughter, Karrie Louise Voight of Canton, Georgia; 1 step-son, David Havins of Temecula, California, 1 step-daughter, Michelle Havins White of Orange, California; 2 brothers: Roy Neilson of Oxnard, California, Grant Neilson of Gold Cost, Australia; 1 sister, Melody Jean Bower of Bethel Island, California and 6 grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date when her family gathers at her "little piece of Heaven" in Mexico.
