Andy Bratton Kendrick, of Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 11, 2013 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low. He was 85. Andy was born to the late Robert Henry Andrew and Marcella Leona (Lloyd) Kendrick in Plainview, Pope County, Arkansas on September 16, 1927. Andy was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged. Following his time in the service he became a member of the American Legion Post #41 in Monterey, California where he served as Post Commander for many years. Andy moved to the beautiful White Mountains where he became very involved in the community. He was a member of the Show Low School Board for several years and also a Show Low City Council Member for 12 years. He retired from the Show Low Unified School District after 35 years of dedicated service. He was very active in the sports programs, having announced many football games, and most notably serving as the bus driver for nearly all the out of town sport activities. His devotion to the "community kids" was probably one of the greatest joys Andy found in life and was near to his heart. He was also extremely involved in the Special Ed and the Special Olympics. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served nearly 15 years with the Genealogy Library and was a temple worker for the Snowflake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A calling he had since the opening of the temple and all the way up until his declining health in 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma Kendrick of Show Low, Arizona; sons, Andy Kendrick Jr. and Ricky Aurther Kendrick, daughter, Marcella Lynn Kendrick; grandchildren, Andralee, Meichelle, Michael Bratten, Benjerman, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Isabelle, Aiernna, Liam, Justin; great-great-grandchild, Harmony Jewell all of Show Low; sister, Elizabeth Sheppard and niece, Tish of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Goldean Berry of Show Low. A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Owens Livingston Mortuary~White Mountain Chapel, 320 N 9th St., Show Low. Funeral services will be held 1:00PM Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 N. 11th St., Show Low with a viewing 1 hour prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Show Low Cemetery.
